OPTION A: EARLY BIBLICAL TEACHING

What were the earliest Jewish and Christian beliefs about evil and the devil? How did they change over time? What specific biblical texts (Hebrew Bible and New Testament) are pointed to in discussions of evil and the devil?

OPTION B: WITCHES

Discuss the Malleus Maleficarum, as well as our lecture on witches. What did you learn about medieval beliefs about witches? Briefly summarize what you learned and then describe what about the reading that surprised, disturbed, or interested you?

Option C: Islam and the concept of evil

Discuss the concept of evil in Islam. Be sure to discuss the Islamic understanding of God, the Devil, free will, human behavior, and hell.

Choose one option to write about. The answer must be a minimum of 450 words.
